Background & History

#109132 is a 40 foot, single door, Boxcar in Class XMc. One of the third group of boxcars built by American Car & Foundry (ACF). The order placed in November 1955 called for a 50 ton capacity with a 3891 cu ft capacity, 10’ 5” interior height with 8 Ft doors. Being the third  group of cars coming from ACF, they differed from the XMa, and XMb cars by having different ends, and having different roof panels. Delivered in November 1956, the car wore a boxcar brown color with minimal lettering for decoration.

#109132 as shown above was repainted in the original brown color and had minimal lettering applied at that time. By now, time has taken its toll and the boxcar could use another coat of paint. This time, hopefully it will include the full array of lettering.
